Gabe's shunt: Take III

Gabe had another shunt revision this week and ended up in the hospital all week as doctors from four different specialties (neurosurgery, neurology, gastroenterology, and rehabilitation) consulted together to figure out how to ease his agitation and discomfort.  The night before discharge, they ordered a CNA to stay one-on-one with him all night--just so that Mom could go home and get a good-night's sleep.

At this stage, Gabe's medications and dosages are constantly changing as we try to figure out what he needs.  We get them all ready at night for the next day to make sure we don't miss anything.

  1. I hope you and the doctors figure things out soon to help little Gabe. That is so sweet that they ordered a CNA so you could rest. I'm so sorry that it is so tough for him (and you). I don't know how you make all the medications work. I'm proud of myself when we remember the 2x per day antibiotics...

  2. Wow what a cocktail!

Nanette, I think about you often and hope to have you over to visit our new house soon. Your kids would probably enjoy the new chicks that we have.

Take care and good luck with round three!
